This postcard was sent to Kingston from someone in Addiscombe Road in 1909.

    Looking at the 1911 census, the postcard was sent from 51 Lower Addiscombe Road by a William Stapleton who was a 57 year old grocer, He lived there with his wife Alice, 49, born in Sleaford Lincolnshire and their 3 children Winifred 26, Florence 25 and Samuel 15.

      It looks like the Beddington end of Wandle Park, considering the buildings in the distance.

        I agree. This is a wonderful view of the lake in Wandle Park, one of my very fondest memories of that nostalgic area of Croydon. Used to enjoy the rowing boats that cost only a few pence to take out. Great days.
